FOR FACULTY, STUDENTS AND STAFF
Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a service which helps eligible patrons obtain materials that are unavailable in the Hokkaido University of Education.
How to request?
ILL requests may be submitted online using My Library system. Login to your account using your "Daigaku Kyoiku Joho System" ID and password. Written requests are also accepted. Please fill in ILL request form and submit to the library desk at your campus library.
What can I request?
Books and photocopies of journal/newspaper articles can be obtained.
Libraries do not ordinarily loan the following types of materials:
- Recently published books
- Journals & Newspapers (photocopies of individual articles are available)
- Reference materials
- Rare materials
- Fragile materials
- Audio-visual materials
How much does it cost?
When requesting photocopies of articles from other campus libraries, copying fees are 10-20 yen/page. The applicant is not required to pay mailing costs.
When borrowing books from libraries in Japan, the borrower is responsible for mailing costs. A regular book runs between 1,200 yen and 1,400 yen.
In case of photocopy of articles, copying and mailing fees are the responsibility of the applicant. Copying fees are approximately 30-60 yen/page; mailing fees are approximately 200 yen. Additional fees may be charged by some libraries.
Requests to obtain materials from libraries overseas are also possible when they are not available at libraries in Japan. All charges are the responsibility of the applicant. Charges includes postage, copying costs, search fees and service fees, the minimum cost is approximately 5,000 yen.
How long dose it take?
Sufficient time should be allowed for the arrival of material from other institutions, in many cases 1 to 2 weeks are necessary.
How long will I have ILL material for?
Material is generally loaned for 2 to 3 weeks. Some materials may be restricted to "library use only." Photocopies are yours to keep.
Can I renew my ILL material?
Renewals are subject to approval by the lending library. If you would like to renew, please contact our libraty desk.
